WHO IS GIZAT KAZHYBAYEV ?

Lieutenant Colonel Gizat KAZHYBAYEV is one of the direct perpetrators of the mass political persecution of civilians in Almaty. It was he who led a series of politically motivated cases against 14 Almaty activists, on trumped up charges of “extremism” (Article 405 Part 1 and Part 2 of the Criminal Code of Kazakhstan).

At all stages of the pre-trial investigation, as well as during the court hearing itself, there were continuous violations of the law.

The lawyers of 14 activists unsuccessfully tried to inform the investigator KAZHYBAYEV (and judge Yernar KASYMBEKOV, among others) that there is not a single reason for a criminal prosecution. And the press release of the General Prosecutor’s Office of Kazakhstan, published in the media, about the ban of the peaceful opposition movement “Koshe Partiyasy” issued by the Yesil court of Almaty, has no legal force at all.

In fact, there is every reason to believe that peaceful citizens, 14 Almaty activists are facing trumped-up charges of “extremism”, which will inevitably lead to knowingly wrongful sentences:

Lieutenant Colonel KAZHYBAYEV personally confirmed that the criminal charges were based on a press release (!) by the General Prosecutor’s Office, published in the media on 19 May 2020. KAZHYBAYEV has not seen the decision of the Yesil court itself to ban the peaceful movement “Koshe Partiyasy”.

The investigator KAZHYBAYEV and prosecutors SALYKHOV A., SERZHANOV E., MYRZAGALIYEV D. could not provide a single proof of “extremism”. All absolutely peaceful actions of the activists, the authorities treacherously equated to a criminal offence.

Criminal cases were initiated by officers of special services. Investigator KAZHYBAYEV attached false “evidence” to the case: orders, reports of employees of the Almaty Police Department with anonymous information from unknown persons about the alleged “detection of a group of extremists” in Almaty.
