By the decision of the Expert Council of September 13, 2023, the following person was recognized as political prisoner:
Tleuzhanova Aigerim, activist, journalist, professional translator.
Because of her active citizenship, she has been repeatedly subjected to administrative sanctions in the form of fines and arrests.
In the evening of January 5, 2022, A. Tleuzhanova was released from the special detention center for those who were administratively detained for participating in the commemoration of A. Atabek and went to the Republic Square to support the demonstrators in support of Zhanaozen.
The next day, after hearing about the arrival of CSTO troops, she went back to the square to protest and then went with other activists to the airport to check on the arrival of the Russian military. After noting the absence of military forces, she left.
However, a criminal case was opened against her and by the verdict of July 11, 2023 she was found guilty under Article 272, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of the RK and sentenced to 4 years’ imprisonment. The appeal hearing is scheduled for September 19, 2023.
