Aigul Utepova who is being prosecuted for her outspoken criticism of the status quo in Kazakhstan has been placed in a psychiatric clinic for «observation» for two weeks. She was taken there yesterday at midday and was told that she would have no contact with the outside world. She would not have her phone and her daughter was told to take away her outside clothes because she would not be going out. Amnesty International thinks she is a prisoner of conscience and should be immediately released. We have issued this Urgent Action, and it would be great if you could send the attached letter to the address given.
