We human rights activists have gathered to address the European Union Special Representative for Central Asia.
Dear Peter Burian, we want to be heard!
One aspires to live in a country free from dictatorship. We strive for this with all our hearts, as well as the 22 political prisoners, who are in Detention Centers and under house arrest under Article 405. These civic activists have been illegally declared extremists! 85 more are being prosecuted in criminal cases!
We want to live in a country where there is the Rule of Law, where the Constitution works, where a person is the Supreme Value in the state system.
In 2020 five civil activists were killed in Kazakhstan. The perpetrators of these crimes have not been punished.
We urge you, Mr. Burian, to ask the authorities of Kazakhstan when the Resolution of the European Parliament of February 11, 2021 will be implemented.
When will civil society be allowed to assemble peacefully?
When will they stop violating human rights and persecuting for freedom of speech.
We call on the European Union, the United States of America, Canada, the United Kingdom and Switzerland to impose personal sanctions on the Nazarbayev family and all those involved in the persecution of civil society.
